Prevent battery failure
CTEK Battery chargers help prevent sulphation from occurring in lead batteries. Sulphation is common in batteries that sit for long periods of time between use and is the primary cause for battery failure.
Sulphation occurs when sulphuric or electrolyte breaks down, causing lead sulphur crystals to coat the lead plates inside the battery. This intefers with the batterys ability to accept a charge. Sufficient advanced sulphation will render a battery useless, in as little as six months to a year.
How it works
Battery conditioners like the CTEK charger work in a three fold way. First it can recondition a used battery buy sending small resonate electronic pulses through the battery to break down moderate levels of lead sulphuric crystals. Secondly, the conditioner will charge the battery automatically whenever it falls below peak levels. Finally, it maintains this peak by monitoring the battery state, charging only when necessary which can prevent future sulphation and overcharging.
