Porsche Panamera Review / History

The Panamera was launched in 2009. Initially, engines were petrols: 292bhp 3.6 V6, 390bhp 4.8 V8 S and 486bhp 4.8 V8 Turbo.

In 2011 Porsche released the 418bhp V8 GTS, 535bhp Turbo S and 370bhp 3.0 V6 supercharged Hybrid S to the range.

In 2013 the face-lift model was revealed, this included new front and rear bumpers, technical changes included the addition of a new 3L twin-turbo charged (414bhp) Turbo S and the new E-Hybrid model. A Turbo S version followed in 2014 which turned into the 4.8L V8 with twi- turbo configuration producing 513bhp and a massive increase in torque, 520lb – 700lb!

The second generation Panamera was revealed in 2016 (available 2017) This included two 7″ displays which replaced the dials of the previous model. The 4S diesel was released and the flagship turbo which was available from launch. In march 2017 was the launch of the 671BHP Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, this includes the 4L V8 from the Panamera Turbo plus electric motor making it the third most powerful Porsche ever.

As of September 2017, the 671BHP Panamera S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo was the most powerful stock estate car.

2019 saw the launch of the new Panamera GTS, the GTS’s twin-turbocharged V8 engine produced 453BHP mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.

Porsche will release new face-lift models for both the Panamera and Sport Turismo models in 2021.
