Porsche 993 Review / History

The 993 model was launched in 1994, an air cooled flat-six engine with a 6 speed manual gearbox available in rear wheel drive only. The 3.6 litre engine delivered 272bhp and featured multi link rear suspension. An all-wheel drive version was released in 1995 with the option of a 4 speed tiptronic automatic gearbox. The same year saw the release of the 3.8 litre Carrera RS delivering 300bhp, the 911 Turbo with a twin turbo 3.6 litre engine producing 408bhp and a limited edition 430bhp GT2.

In 1996 the 911 Targa was introduced with s sliding panoramic glass roof and the 3.6 litre Carrera had an engine upgrade which now produced 285bhp.
