Porsche Cayman 981 Review / History

On sale in the Uk in early 2013 the Porsche Cayman 981 was the first significant styling change for the Cayman in over 6 years, a more modern looking car both inside and out with a definite sense of presence, a sharper and more grown up Cayman. Available as a 2.7 or 3.4 engine variant and a six speed manual or 7 speed PDK transmission. The 981 also saw many performance and driver aids added to the option list. A Porsche model range wouldn’t be complete without the odd special, and the Cayman wasn’t one to disappoint with the Cayman GTS and in 2015 the long awaited GT4 with a 3.8l engine producing 385 HP and 420 NM of torque, in favour of the hard core Porsche fans the GT4 was only offered with a manual transmission unlike the GT3 of the same era which could only be purchased with a PDK transmission.
