Porsche 944 Review / History
The Porsche 944 was first introduced in 1982 as a replacement of the 924, the naturally aspirated version initially powered by Porsches 2.5 engine, this engine saw modifications to include the use of 4 valves per cylinder for the 1987 release of the 944 S. In 1989 the standard 944 received a 2.7 engine and Porsche released the 944 S2 this was to be a 3.0 variant and the first of the front engine line up to be offered with a cabriolet option. Turbo versions started in 1985 as a 2.5 turbo engine, this model ran until 1988 where the turbo S took over until the production ended for the 944 range in 1991.
