Porsche Boxster Water Leaks

Reasons for Water Leaks in Porsche Boxster Models

Blocked drains are a prevalent factor contributing to water leaks in Boxster models. The convertible roof features a design where water collects in the catchment tray, (unlike earlier models) the more recent variants, have drain tubes equipped with an end filter that may become obstructed by debris, leading to potential blockages and water leakage.

The images below show the blocked drain tube filter our technicians have removed from a Porsche Boxster 981.

To reduce future issues, our team remove the filter to allow water to flow freely through the tubes to help eliminate blockages.

Here is an image of the roof mechanism, featuring the primary drip tray positioned at the top. Its role is crucial—it captures and redirects water into the drain tubes. Without proper drainage, this is the point where overflow would occur, potentially leading to water seeping into the interior of the car.

Porsche Boxster Roof Drain Service

Trust our seasoned technicians at RPM Specialist Cars to undertake our meticulous roof drain service and inspection. We understand that various Boxster models may be affected, and how the design of drains differs over the years. For modern models, we address the issue of filter blockage at the end of the drain tubes, whilst with the older models the main issues may lie withing the catchment trays themselves, whether it be from a blockage or damage / deterioration of the membrane. Our knowledgeable team is equipped with different preventative solutions tailored to your Porsche’s specific requirements.

NB. These are not the only Porsche models effected by blocked drain issues and it is not solely linked to the roof drains. There are other drain points around these vehicles that also need to be check periodically, ensuring water is free to flow through them, exiting the vehicle as intended.
